Technical
Other Types of Die Castings
Sand Casting – Made from Aluminium but using a Mould which is made from Sand. This is cheaper and quicker, but the quality is not as good as die-cast parts. The Mould will not last long so only a small quantity of Castings can be made. For example, Aluminium heritage signposts or nameplates are usually made this way, as there is often only a requirement for 1 or 2 quantity. When used for larger quantities, the quality tends to deteriorate quickly.
Note we do not supply Sand Castings, only castings from Iron Moulds (ie. Die-Castings).
Pressure Die-Casting: A Die-Casting where the Liquid Aluminium is pressurised into the Mould as opposed to the standard Gravity method. This is often used for high volume, fast Production such as car parts or where more precise Castings are required.
Note: We do not offer Pressure Die-Casting, only Gravity Die-Casting.
